TOP TEN COMPETITION
TLBC HOSTS NORTH VANCOUVER LBC JUNE 12, 2026
Each year, the Vancouver and District Bowls Association invites member clubs to create a team of 10 of its best available bowlers, and have that team compete against other V and D Top Ten teams.
This year TLBC’s team consisted of Karen Walker as team manager, and Craig Peterson, Rob Doggett, Zandra Harvey, Chris Walker, Ralph Walker, Adriana Resnick, Gail and Jack Moores, and Laurie and David Fredricksen as the playing members of the team. Brian Vickers, Felice Andersen, Serge Tremblay and John Chatterton were also members of the team but were either unavailable on June 12, 2026 or agreed to act as spares to play if needed.
TLBC hosted North Vancouver LBC the evening of June 12, 2016. TLBC played well and won a close game in the Pairs competition, but lost close games in the singles, triples and fours, leaving NVLBC the winner of the match. The tournament has a single knockout format, so NVLBC moved on to the next round and TLBC was eliminated from this year’s competition. Better luck next year, TLBC.

TLBC HOSTS A VANCOUVER AND DISTRICT
MEN’S INTERCLUB TOURNAMENT ON JUNE 13, 2026
Fourteen teams of men’s triples from all over the Lower Mainland joined two TLBC teams on June 13, 2026 to compete in an all day tournament.
The tournament had a somewhat different format. All teams competed in the first round. Opponents were selected by random draw. After the first round two flights were created. All of the winning teams in the first round went into the A Flight and all of the losing teams went into the B flight. This format was adopted so that the tougher teams played against each other for the rest of the day, and the weaker teams had a better chance to succeed against similar teams. At least, that is the theory behind the format. Because the first round is based on a random draw, you sometimes get the best two teams playing against each other in the first round, and one of them is relegated to the B Flight.
Both Tsawwassen teams won in the first round so both then played three games against other winning teams. The team consisting of John Chatterton, Jack Moores and Ralph Walker played very well but finished 1-2 in Flight A, playing against three very tough teams and losing one of its games by a single point scored in the last end.
The other Tsawwassen team, which initially consisted of Rob Doggett, David Fredricksen and Craig Peterson, won both of its morning games. Rob’s balky back acted up so our morning parking lot attendant, Dave Fontaine, volunteered to sub in for Rob for afternoon play. The rebuilt team lost its first afternoon game to the eventual tournament winner from New Westminster, but came back to win its final game by 9 shots. This Tsawwassen team finished at 3-1 for the day and took third place overall out of the 16 teams.
The visiting clubs all praised the condition of the green and TLBC’s hospitality and pledged to return in 2027.
All in all, it was a great day.
